My next personal art journal will be about my early years with mom. My mother passed away three years ago after a ten year struggle with Alzheimer's. I really do miss her smile, her laugh, her hugs and being able to call her up to hear her voice.

New Verse Book

During Don's Workshop I was totally imersed creating cards with the beeswax and napkin technique. After my buddy Camille mentioned she only makes books these days it occurred to me that I could of course incorporate this technique and create a book as well!

BVBPg1

So, here is the first inside page of my "Verse Book". I have a notebook filled with my favorite bible verses and a few I am trying to memorize. You may have some favorite poems or sayings as well and you can incorporate this same idea for your own book.

VerseMark1 I created layers of backgrounds with napkins and beeswax (three different napkin prints here). I printed out my favorite clip art and adhered them to gold background paper. Then I used my Cuttlebug to cut out the swirls, my mini "create a sticker" Xyron to adhere all the small pieces and cardstock letter "B's" (for Beauty), My Fiskars border punch, some bling, some Stazon ink for the edges, and adhered the top layer on three sides with mounting tape to an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of black cardstock.

I left the top open so I could slide in my decorated verse "bookmarks". I can fit 3 verses in the pocket for each page. I'll be creating additional pages this week so it will be fun to see how I use up all my napkins for this project!!! I intend on binding all my pages together on a larger sheet of heavyweight cardstock using my Zutter binding system when I have all 15 pages completed!  This should keep me busy over the next 2 weeks ;-)

Have a wonderful Sunday! Hugs, ArtScrampGirl ;-)

Don Zimmer's Class

What a great class this Saturday!  Don is an exceptional teacher and I have learned so much from him.  He showed us several techniques in this all day workshop. If you ever have an opportunity to take one of Don's classes, you will be so glad you did!!! Check in with Friends & Company to see when he will be teaching again. I loved designing these cards and hope you enjoy them as well!  Hope you all have a fantastic week.  Can't wait to create more projects with Don's techniques this weekend! I even pulled out my Microfluer today and dried some of my garden flowers in the microwave. So much creating to do...so little time! Hugs, Maria

May Flowers, Mother's Day and a Happy Birthday!

Hello and Welcome to May!!!  Our theme for May was "April Showers and May Flowers". As you can see from the slide show below, we had great fun as always!

Our theme for June is "Down By The Sea". Get your creative juices flowing and think SUN!  The beach, sand, flip flops, sea shells, waves, a beautiful sunset....

Well, this is going to be a bonus weekend for me!  Img_3286First of all, I want to wish you all a Happy Mother's Day!  I am certainly going to be spoiled by my boys this weekend ;-)  It is a bonus weekend for me since my Birthday is on May 12th!  Tee Hee!!!  As you can see, my brother, my sister and my good friend Rick sent me this wonderful bouquet of fresh fruit complete with chocolate covered strawberries!!!   All for me!!!!  Best part about their wonderful gift is that I started Nutri-Systems 4 weeks ago and I am starting to see some results!  Fruit is on the menu and so is chocolate so it is the best birthday gift ever!

Ok.... so I made it easy for my hubby this year...I had Doris set aside a few items from my wish list for my birthday.  All he needs to do is visit Friends and Company and pick them up!  He made the effort to get me what I REALLY want for my birthday and thanks to Doris, it is all ready to go ;-0   Thanks Doris!  I'll give you a sneak peak later this weekend ;-)

Img_3283 So of course, I did have to treat myself for my 48th birthday! It came in the mail just yesterday and I have already unpacked it and can't wait to start decorating it!  As you can see, it is 7 Gypsies ATC rolodex.  Img_3284 It is awesome!  It came complete with stickers, cards, dividers, a pack of colorful papers and some awesome printed cards and clear acetate cards with printed backgrounds!  Love Love Love!!!!

Img_3267HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

A big hug to you all. Enjoy your weekend!!!

Another Acrylic Scrapbook Completed!

My brothers Gary and Rick just returned from a trip out to Hawaii with Rick's family for a beautiful wedding!  I went straight to work putting together a scrapbook using acrylic sheets that I cut using the Accu-Cut large tag die. Doris at Friends and Company has a great supply of these acrylic sheets in various sizes, the largest being 12x12. I used the 12x12 sheets. They are inexpensive and make wonderful "see-through" pages for scrapbooking. Enjoy!  Oh, and happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!  Hugs, Maria
